One Lucky Night at the WYSIWYG Talent Show

Last night was probably one of my luckiest nights ever. I was reading Queerty yesterday morning when I saw a post about a Talent Show in Manhattan called WYSIWYG where performers are all bloggers. The performances last night were all readings about "the worst roommates ever". Although the host Andy Horwitz said that any sort of performance like singing, dancing or comic act is welcome.
So, I called PS 122 around 3 PM and asked if there are available tickets. I was told the tickets were sold out. I also found out that the tickets run out very quickly because the place has a limited seating capacity. There were only 60 seats last night, but I think previously the event was held at a different room with 100 seats.
"Oh, would there be extra tickets before the show?” I asked the guy on the telephone.
"You can try to come but there is no guarantee", said the guy.
I did not hesitate a bit and drive all the way from New Jersey to Manhattan to try my luck for one extra ticket. That's right bitches, I went there on my own.
When I got to the city around 6 PM, I immediately went to the ticket booth to ask if there are tickets available. The guy on the counter told me that it doesn't look good so far. He told me to come back at 7 PM. Good, so I can stop by at McDonalds to eat something.
7 PM - still no tickets.
I was conditioning myself to the possibility of just going home. You know, I can go to the city just to eat at McDonald's. Not a big deal.
Finally, I went back to the booth at 7:20 PM. I asked the guy again for a ticket. He consulted another guy and, VOILA...there's an extra ticket for ME!
When I went inside the performance room, I was a little nervous because I don't really know what I got myself into. And I do not know anyone in the room, which makes me simply an observer, more like an outsider too.
The show was AWESOME! I did not expect to see myself in Manhattan, on a Tuesday night, listening to some of the most interesting roommate stories from people I never met.
In the middle of the show, the host went back to the stage to draw some prizes. There were two prizes. The major prize entitles the winner to a free membership at the PS122 Org. A member has the benefit of watching all the shows for only $10 a performance. The winner also receives a ticket for 2 at the Claire Danes' solo dance performance, and an invite to the AFTER PARTY. (plus other perks)
"The winner is...." then the host announced my name.
OHMYGA...
I felt so lucky and blessed. Was it destiny or just pure luck? For whatever it is, I think I'm gonna consider exploring (or discovering) my artistic side. In the meantime, it's party time baby!
